The POWER SOURCE VIDEO SERIES provides a dynamic interactive tool for working with highly at-risk youth. From the authors of Power Source, this four-art series addresses the core components of the program. The series depicts at-risk youth gaining insight into their lives and finding more adaptive solutions to deal with the issues that have led them to high-risk behavior. The videos both broaden and intensify the impact of the Power Source curricula and serve as a resource to augment other curricula serving this population.

The series is designed to be used with both groups and individuals.

The first two videos produced in the series are “Risk-Taking” and “Meditation”. These two topics are at the core of The Power Source Program. It is, most often, negative risk-taking that brings at-risk youth to the attention of authorities and frequently into the criminal justice system. Meditation is a powerful tool to help youth gain control over their emotions and prepare them for making constructive choices about their future.

The third video, “Families: Where We Come From” explores serious family problems, the emotions they evoke in children, and adaptive ways to deal with resulting stress and trauma.

Our latest video, “Lost Childhoods and Entitlement: Dealing With Unfairness in Life” helps youth identify the feelings arising from experiences of early deprivation and explores how entitlement behavior ensues. The video then guides youth in developing effective skills to meet their needs in healthy ways.

Power Source: Taking Charge of Your Life Book is a practical, accessible, and innovative book/curriculum designed to help highly at-risk youth identify their strengths and take control over their lives, while increasing their understanding of the emotions and beliefs driving their high-risk and offending behavior.

POWER SOURCE FACILITATOR'S GUIDE:

The Power Source Facilitator’s Manual is an important tool, which is available to assist staff and clinicians. The Manual presents an 11-module program, which provides a rationale for the inclusion of each topic presented in the manual, goals to be accomplished for each module, and notes to facilitators to help guide the process. It offers a variety of therapeutic exercises, including discussion topics, role-plays, and vignettes.
